I Will Keep Saying It Until It Sinks In
I have said this before and I will keep saying it until people start to understand:
Perception is not the reality.
Perception is assumption. What have we all learned about assumptions? Just because you think something or someone is a certain way, it doesn't mean that it is or they are. Perception is not truth. This is a big problem in this society...people base things off of perception. You are assuming and from that assumption you start judging and when you judge you are not fair to you or anyone else and everyone loses in so many ways.
Perceptions about people are based on your life experiences but the reality is based on the other person's life experiences. What you think you see is, more often than not, incorrect. We cannot judge people based on what we think or what we feel. We need to take the time to know the truth about the person. I, for one, am exhausted with people telling me that perception is everything and that I'M the wrong one because they perceive me to be a certain way. If they had bothered to take the time to actually know anything about me, (which many tend to do far too late), they would realize that everything they thought about me, what they perceived, was way off base. I am not wrong because you think you know who I am based only on perception. And you are not wrong if someone perceives things about you that are incorrect.
Perception is not the reality.
Sometimes you will find yourself in situations that you feel or think you want to be in or you think will change based on your perceptions. Or sometimes you will run away from situations based on feelings or perceptions. Live by what you know, not what you think or feel, but by what you know. And sometimes, the right thing is to stay when you would love to run away and sometimes the right thing is to leave when you think you would rather stay. We have to start making our decisions based on truth and reality, not what we feel or think we know. Perception can really mess things up for you.
Perception is not the reality.
